Q. I would like to know what is happening on the Stock Markets’ front. Do you predict an upward move or a down trend from now on? Please suggest whether I should exit at the current levels or should wait for some more time?

Answer: One should invest in equities for a tenure of 3-5 years. Having said that, in the short run, the earnings are seen better than expected and the Government could announce disinvestment strategy any time, which are seen as positive factors. There are upcoming IPOs of close to Rs.10,000 Cr in the next 2 months which might suck out liquidity and hence we may see some amount of selling as well. Booking of profits in part of the portfolio may make sense depending on the stocks one is holding.
