    modification of Form 16

    Hi Do I need to send the proof of any change to the Form 16? I have some 50K as interest on loan in my form 16 where as I have actually paid aroung 90K. Please help Ashish

    We suggest claiming the correct amount which is 90K. However, keep all the supporting documents with you in case of a query from the IT department. The supporting documents will be needed in case of a query.

    Other Income shown in Form 16 is prepared by DDO(drawing & disbursing Officer) on the basis of the Information supplied by the assessee .Like interest from deposit or interest paid on house.So it possible that exact information may not be available to DDO due to some reason .so in this case person can fill different figures from form 16 in ITR .This is also as per instruction 11(c) in the ITR-1 form which says that Person can modify figures given in the form 16 while filing income tax return
