    getting back excess amount paid

    can one in any case get back last year's excess amount paid to income tax office, that is for year 2008-09.

    Hi,

    Assuming that you have not already claimed a refund last year on receipt of your Form-16, you would have to visit your Income Tax circle office and furnish your Form-16 for last year and claim a refund, if you are sure that you have paid excess tax.

    Your bank account details will be collected and you will get back the said refund amount within a few weeks.
