I have planned out my savings strategy for my kid and I'm going with IRA and strictly other options of mutual funds. I am putting one hundred-five hundred in this account every month for around 20 years. That way when my son hits his college days I can tell him to take his pick of college.  I do not know familiar thinga about investment. But my suggestion for you is take some insurance policy in your son name. And make your investment in that policy and i think you can get some huge amount after 20 years.
