Well this is my personal experience and everyone is entitled for their own opinion. So at the outset reader discretion is recommended. :-)
I have my car loan from Kotak Mahindra (KM) and it was mainly on behest of Hyundai as they had tie-up with Kotak and advised me to go ahead with them. My loan process and everything was very smooth. Executive came to my office for all formalities and had me signed-up all docs. I did not have to do much and was very happy. Interest rate offered to me also was good. But normally you dont have to deal too much with financial institutes from whom you avail car loan as amount is normally not that big like home loan.
For the 1st time I needed something from Kotak Mahindra and that was my payment history statement mainly for the purpose of proof that everything is fine. This was needed as a proof by IDBI with whom I am switching my home loan from HDFC. first I went to 1 KM branch in IndiraNagar (Bangalore). I was amazed to see not a single person (except employees) in bank at 2.30 P.M. Nevertheless I told 1 executive abt my ask. He said they cant do much as car loans are handled by Kotak Mahindra Prime. and their systems cant give me the statement i am looking for. Fair enough. Then he told me that in Bangalore there is only 1 office of KM Prime and that was some 30 odd Kilometers away from my place. HE gave me a no of some guy who in turn gave me no of customer care which i can get from website itself. So i call up customer care and they tell me that they cant send this statement via post and i have to go personally and pay 500 rs for this. I was kind of laughing and confused. Why the hell 500 bucks for a statement just to show that my payment record has been good and no default. And i have to go personally for this that too 30 KMs away in Bangalore traffic which is a pain in itself. And funny part is that this executive tells me that if i need statement for income tax purpose that they can send via post for free. So i asked whts so diff for other statement, she tells me that it is chargeable. I told her that banks like HDFC dont even charge a penny for such statements and i get it via post easily. To which she had no reply but again the same answer that it is chargeable and u have to pay this to get statement.
So i was left with no option but to go and get the statement from their office. and as expected it was just a click on Print button for which i had to pay 500 bucks. Issue here was not of money but the kind of customer service one expects from such banks. and they failed to give me service which i expect is something goes without saying.
So not all that happy with Kotak Mahindra's way of working. Thought of sharing my experience with all readers here.
